Chocolate pudding pie. It is a Thanksgiving family tradition that started when I was a kid, but even as an adult with kids of my own I still look forward to that pie. Now my son wants to start our own family tradition of hosting an annual Thanksgiving football game in our backyard.
Thanksgiving has always been my favorite holiday of the year. As a kid there were always five or six other families at our house. There was good food and lots of fun, even with the embarrassment and mandatory eye roll when my mother would ask everyone to state what they were thankful for that year.
Though I am not much of a cook, I love to entertain at our home. I love the feeling of everyone being here and enjoying each other’s company, even if I don’t always get to join in because I am busy serving and getting everything ready.
When I entertain, I want it to look something like this:
However, it usually feels something like this:
My friend (and amazing cook), Tara Ziegmont of Feels Like Home, tells me that it does not have to be that way. She swears that you can host the holiday AND enjoy it even with your own family traditions, just by being prepared. I have a feeling she said those very words to quite a few people because this year she has written an ebook to help us all do just that – enjoy the holiday while hosting it.
In her ebook, Your Best Thanksgiving Ever!, Tara walks step by step through the days leading up to Thanksgiving so you can have a delicious meal and enjoy time with your guests. Whether you are a gourmet at heart or burn toast like me, you will be able to use her guidelines for hosting a relaxed yet traditional Thanksgiving dinner. Her new ebook includes:
- A 6-page printable planning checklist
- A 4-page printable grocery list – divided by sections of the grocery store – with spaces to add your own items
- 3 printable checklists for the cooking and serving pieces you’ll need
- 12 delectable recipes for a traditional Thanksgiving dinner, everything from the best roast turkey you’ve ever eaten to potatoes, vegetables and pies
The book is $14.50 but using the code MARBLE5 will take $5.00 off the purchase price, making it a very reasonable $9.50 instead. I’d say that $9.50 to save my sanity rather than feeling like the turkey is well worth it! Click here to purchase the ebook and have your best Thanksgiving yet.
Does your family have any Thanksgiving traditions? How do you prepare for Thanksgiving? And, here comes the question that embarrassed me every year, what will you be thankful for this year?

So proud of Tara! I usually have every holiday at my house but the last 2 years I let my mil have it. Not having that one holiday gives me the break I need and it gives me extra time to prepare for the 25-70 people at my house xmas eve and xmas!
