The Circus is Coming!

The Circus is Coming I must admit that my kids (particularly my oldest) is not typically easily impressed.  So last year when the circus came to town we debated whether or not to get tickets.  The kids ended up seeing the show with their cousins and all four kids absolutely loved it.  Even my tough-customer talked about it for days afterwards.

So when I found out that Ringling Brothers was coming back with an all-new show, I jumped at the chance to write about it.  Not just because my kids had a blast at the last one, but because of the Ringling Bros. Center for Elephant Conservation.

The Asian elephant has long been known as a symbol of “The Greatest Show on Earth and Ringling Brothers takes their conservation and breeding seriously.  In fact, in 1995 the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Center for Elephant Conservation® was established in central Florida in the interest of the species’ present and future well-being.  This 200-acre, $5-million, state-of-the-art facility is specifically dedicated to the nurturing and preservation of Elephants. http://www.elephantcenter.com/

Because of their long-established relationship working with tigers and other big cat species, Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey also support conservation programs for these amazing animals, such as the completion of a Wildlife Health Monitoring Unit in an area of Russia that is home to Amur tiger and leopard populations as well as supporting a local conservation program for tigers in Northeast India.
