Being “What’s Possible” with Gap Inc.

Gap Inc for Milk+Bookies We all know the Gap, whose clothing and accessories focus on a casual yet classic style.  We grew up with Gap, wore GapMaternity while pregnant, work out with GapBody and now our kids are growing up with clothes from babyGap, GapKids and Gap itself.  You know about Gap’s long-term involvement in the Red Campaign, which is fighting for social change and a world free of HIV and Aids.

At Gap Inc., their philanthropic focus is on under-served youth, on women in the developing world and on large scale volunteerism. In addition to the creation of several programs that benefit women and children, Gap has extensive donation matching and grant programs available for employees who donate their time to social development in the community. Gap Inc.’s mantra is “Be what’s possible.”  You can learn more about their efforts at www.bewhatspossible.com.

With an optimistic belief that everyone can make a mark in the world, Gap embodies what it means to be positive.  And being what’s possible is why I am thrilled to have been asked to be a part of babyGap’s Peter Rabbit event on behalf of Milk+Bookies, a non-profit organization that teaches children to how great it feels to give back while celebrating the love of reading.

On Saturday, January 26th, 30 babyGap locations around the country will celebrate the new Peter Rabbit spring collection by hosting a special reading series for children and parents. During the events, guests will be treated to a reading (by moi) of Emma Thompson’s sequel, “The Further Tale of Peter Rabbit” while enjoying activities and snacks that bring the world of Peter Rabbit to life.  In addition, the stores are hosting book drives where shoppers can donate books which will be donated to local Boys & Girls Clubs.   There will be refreshments and coloring activities for kids to enjoy as well as a special giveaway of “The Further Tale of Peter Rabbit.”  More information about the in-store events is available on Gap’s Facebook page.

Here are the details of where I will be helping Gap Inc. show children how to be what’s possible: further_tale_of_peter_rabbit
